Tangible WILDCARD via Zoom

Tangible Ireland has been convening Leadership Workshops for Business and Civic Leaders since January 2009. Our focus has been on social and economic regeneration as the series was born out of the desire to rebuild the economy in Ireland after the Global Financial Crisis in 2008. As the economic crisis continued Tangible spread its wings and started convening workshops in large and medium size cities and towns on the island of Ireland, and major ‘Irish’ cities around the world including New York, London, Sydney and San Francisco. We have delivered 135 events to date in three continents and our following has grown among individuals seeking to make a personal, business or societal positive impact.

At our recent Ambassador Summer School (Our 13th event since 2010) in Kilmallock, County Limerick, Ireland we invited Jim Gaffey, a member of the Great Irish Bord to outline the challenges faced to sustain the accessibility of the magnificent collection that makes up the Great Hunger Museum in Connecticut.

With our face-to-face audience and #tangiblezoom participants his presentation invoked an energetic response. With this positive response and subsequent discussion with Jim we decided that the Great Hunger and Migration would be an ideal theme for our annual Tangible WILDCARD event. Previous themes have been Indigenous Studies in Australia, Social and Economic Development on Kings Island in Limerick among others.

Further discussions were then held with Professor Christine Kinealy, Director-Ireland’s Great Hunger Institute who suggested we might convene a panel of interested parties in a brief focused session on the Great Hunger and Migration. Hence this website post.

Ideally we will have 3-4 expert contributors on this topic and then open it up to the wider Tangible audience.
